Nokia Siemens to spend $70 mln on new India plant

NEW DELHI Oct 16 (Reuters) - Telecoms network gear maker Nokia Siemens Networks [NSN.UL] said it will invest $70 million over three years in a new Indian factory that will make and distribute mobile communication equipment.

The new facility is near the southern city of Chennai. Nokia Siemens also has a manufacturing facility in Kolkata in eastern India, where it makes fixed network equipment.

Nokia Siemens is the second-largest network gear provider in India, trailing only Ericsson (ERICb.ST), according to data compiled by technology publication CyberMedia. (Reporting by Devidutta Tripathy; Editing by John Mair)
