India adds record 10.8 mln mobile users in December
NEW DELHI |
NEW DELHI Jan 21 (Reuters) - India added a record 10.81 million wireless subscribers in December, with the total mobile user base rising 48.5 percent in 2008 to 346.9 million, data from the telecoms regulator showed on Wednesday.
Mobile operators in India, the world's fastest-growing mobile market, have been adding more than 10 million new users a month, with cheap call rates, low-cost handsets and network expansion fuelling the boom.
In November, operators added 10.35 million users and the previous high was achieved in October, when they signed up 10.42 million. (Reporting by Devidutta Tripathy;Editing by Mark Williams)
