Chrysler to lay off 1,200 workers at Ontario plant

TORONTO, March 4 | Thu Mar 5, 2009 3:05am IST

TORONTO, March 4 (Reuters) - Embattled automaker Chrysler [CBS.UL] is cutting a shift at its plant in Windsor, Ontario, and will indefinitely lay off 1,200 workers as a result of the move, it said on Wednesday.

Chrysler said elimination of the third shift at the plant will take place after June 24. (Reporting by Wojtek Dabrowski; editing by Peter Galloway)
