Proposed Calais LNG pipeline to begin open season

NEW YORK | Tue May 19, 2009 1:29am IST

NEW YORK May 18 (Reuters) - Calais LNG will conduct an open season this month, gauging interest in use of a gas pipeline running from its proposed liquefied natural gas import terminal in Maine to the local grid, it said in a statement on Friday.

The binding open season will run from May 22 to June 12 and will be for the transport of 1 billion cubic feet per day of gas through the pipeline.

The proposed 20-mile pipeline would connect the Calais LNG terminal to the pipeline system of Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline and is expected to be in service by the first quarter of 2014, the company said. (Reporting by Edward McAllister; Editing by Walter Bagley)
