ROME (Reuters) - Ariana Kukors broke the women's 200 metres individual medley world record in the semi-finals at the world championships on Sunday.

The American swam 2 minutes 07.03 to beat Stephanie Rice's mark of 2:08.45. Australian Rice was second in the race.
