MOSCOW | Fri Oct 2, 2009 12:10pm IST

MOSCOW Oct 2 (Reuters) - Russia set a new monthly record for crude oil production in September, producing 10 million barrels per day (bpd) in a single month for the first time, Energy Ministry data released on Friday showed.

September production of 10.01 million bpd was 0.4 percent more than August output of 9.97 million bpd, which was also a record at the time.

The ministry data showed Russian natural gas output rose 8.6 percent month-on-month in September to 1.52 billion cubic metres (bcm) per day.

Gas export monopoly Gazprom (GAZP.MM) produced 1.20 bcm per day in September, up 11.1 percent from August, the data showed. (Reporting by Robin Paxton, editing by Maria Kiselyova)
