Gold hits record above $1,160 on inflation worries

Mon Nov 23, 2009 5:49am IST

SINGAPORE, Nov 23 (Reuters) - Gold powered to another
record above $1,160 an ounce on Monday as growing worries about
inflation and global economic uncertainty offset a rebound in
the U.S. dollar.
Cash gold XAU= jumped as high as $1,161.80 an ounce in
thin trade due to the absence of Japanese speculators, while
U.S. COMEX December gold futures GCZ9 hit an intraday high of
$1,162.50.
