FRANKFURT Dec 17 (Reuters) - Deutsche Bank (DBKGn.DE) is interested in bidding for commodities trading company RBS Sempra, a source familiar with the situation said on Thursday.

"Deutsche is clearly one of the bidders," the source said, adding that talks were under way.

Deutsche Bank declined to comment, but it has been actively expanding its involvement in commodities, launching 11 new commodities indices, three new commodity systematic mutual funds and one new commodity exchange traded fund this fiscal year.

Part-nationalised Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS.L) said in November it was selling its 51 percent stake in Sempra, which it jointly owns with Sempra Energy (SRE.N), as part of a deal to lighten the bank's risk in exchange for government aid.
