India cbank in favour of deregulating savings rate

MUMBAI, June 17 | Thu Jun 17, 2010 11:15am IST

MUMBAI, June 17 (Reuters) - India's central bank is in favour of deregulating banks' saving rate, Reserve Bank of India Deputy Governor, K.C. Chakrabarty said on Thursday.

"We are in facvor of deregulating all intrest rates including savings rate," Chakrabarty said when asked about deregulation of savings rate, which currently stands at 3.25 percent. (Reporting by Suvashree Dey Choudhury and Neha D'silva; editing by Sunil Nair)
