UPDATE 1-ScottsMiracle-Gro posts bigger Q3 profit

Aug 10 (Reuters) - Lawn and garden-products ScottsMiracle-Gro Co (SMG.N) posted a bigger quarterly profit as continued interest in hobbies like gardening in the United States resulted in better sales of related products.
For the third quarter, the lawn- and garden-products maker's adjusted income from continuing operations were $176.9 million, or $2.61 a share, compared with $155.0 million, or $2.34 a share last year.
Revenue was up one percent at $1.24 billion.
Analysts on average were expecting earnings of $2.45 per share on revenue of $1.23 billion, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
Shares of the Marysville, Ohio-based ScottsMiracle-Gro closed at $46.37 Monday on the New York Stock Exchange. (Reporting by Shobhana Chadha in Bangalore; Editing by Prem Udayabhanu)
