BANGKOK |
BANGKOK Aug 31 (Reuters) - Shares in Thailand's top conglomerate, Siam Cement SCC.BK, jumped more than 6 percent on Tuesday after the company said it expected 2010 cement sales volume to rise 10 percent, higher than the 5 percent earlier forecast. [ID:nSGE67Q088]
At 0912 GMT, the stock was up 6.5 percent at 296 baht after hitting a new high of 297 baht, while the broader Thai market .SETI was 0.24 percent higher.
Progress in the government's attempt to end the impasse at the country's largest industrial estate, Map Ta Phut, where Siam Cement has petrochemical operations, also boosted sentiment in the stock, a dealer said.
Thailand's cabinet on Tuesday approved a list of industrial activities deemed harmful to the environment, a step towards ending a dispute that has frozen the activities of scores of plants at the huge industrial estate. [ID:nSGE67U021] (Reporting by Khettiya Jittapong; Editing by Alan Raybould)
