China power output to surge in August - paper

SHANGHAI, Sept 2 | Thu Sep 2, 2010 6:09am IST

SHANGHAI, Sept 2 (Reuters) - China's year-on-year power output for August could increase significantly with growth in electricity generation exceeding 18 percent versus a July rise of 11.5 percent, the China Securities Journal reported on Thursday.

High temperatures that peaked in August have had a significant impact on power generation, with households increasing consumption of electricity, the newspaper said citing a source familiar with the matter. (Reporting by Farah Master and Soo Ai Peng; Editing by Chris Lewis)
