Loomis buying more Irish government bonds - Fuss

NEW YORK | Wed Nov 10, 2010 10:39pm IST

NEW YORK Nov 10 (Reuters) - Loomis Sayles vice chairman Dan Fuss, who helps oversee $150 billion, said on Wednesday the firm has been buying more Irish government debt for its attractive yield and solid long-term credit quality.

"Two years from now, you will look back on this as one of the brightest things you did," Fuss told Reuters about purchasing Irish bonds. "If you have a short-term horizon, this is not for you."

The 10-year Irish/German government bond yield spread rose by around 60 basis points to a record high of 635, breaching the 600 mark for the first time as clearing house LCH. Clearnet hiked margin requirements for Irish debt. For more see [ID:nLDE6A91Y5]. (Reporting by Jennifer Ablan; Editing by James Dalgleish)
