Vietnam bans dong/dollar trading via third currency
HANOI, June 26 (Reuters) - Vietnam's central bank said on Thursday it has banned the trading of U.S. dollar and dong via a third currency as it moves to regain control of the dong/dollar exchange rate.
The directive is effective immediately.
"All credit organisations allowed to operate foreign exchange trading are not allowed to conduct transactions between the dong and the U.S. dollar through a third currency," State Bank of Vietnam Governor Nguyen Van Giau said in a directive. (Reporting by Nguyen Nhat Lam; editing by Neil Fullick)
