Indonesian president names 2 candidates for next c.bank gov
JAKARTA, Feb 15 (Reuters) - Indonesia's President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has proposed to parliament two candidates for the position of central bank governor, the speaker of the house of representatives said on Friday.
Yudhoyono proposed Agus Martowardojo, president director of Indonesia's biggest lender Bank Mandiri BMRI.JK, and Raden Pardede, vice president director of PT Perusahaan Pengelola Aset, a state management company, to replace central bank governor Burhanuddin Abdullah.
Abdullah's five-year term as governor ends in May this year, and President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono must submit candidates for the post of governor to parliament by Sunday.
Abdullah, who has been named a suspect in a graft case, said on Tuesday that he was not interested in seeking a second term in office. He has denied any wrongdoing. (Writing by Harry Suhartono, editing by Sara Webb)
