Merkel says Emirates air talks progressing

FRANKFURT, Feb 7 (Reuters) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel said talks with Emirates [EMAIR.UL] about more landing rights for the Gulf's biggest airline are progressing.

"I believe we are moving ahead," Merkel said on Thursday after meeting the Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum in Berlin.

"We are of course interested in having as many international guests as possible," she said.

The German transport ministry said it is in talks which may lead to official negotiations. (Reporting by Claudia Kade)
