NEW YORK, March 4 (Reuters) - Kraft Foods Inc (KFT.N: Quote, Profile, Research) followed other major U.S. roasters Tuesday and raised list prices on some of its well-known Maxwell House and Yuban coffees, a spokeswoman said, marking the second price hike within three weeks.

The increase was due to the significant rise in the cost of green coffee, Kraft spokeswoman Bridget MacConnell said.

The price hike is 20 cents per 11- to 13-ounce can on select Maxwell House and Yuban coffees, effective immediately, MacConnell said.

Select instant coffee increased by 3 cents per ounce, she said.

The rise followed Procter & Gamble's (PG.N: Quote, Profile, Research) hike Monday, in Dunkin' Donuts and some Folgers coffees prices, due to higher green coffee prices. Massimo Zanetti Beverage USA also increased the list prices of its well-known coffee brands like Chock Full o'Nuts on the same day. P&G most recently increased prices Feb. 11, and Zanetti and Kraft quickly followed.

Previous to this, all three companies increased some of their coffee prices in October 2007, also citing increased green coffee prices.

Coffee futures have rallied since January as investment funds pour new money into commodities.  Continued...
