PARIS, Jan 26 (Reuters) - The trader blamed for a $7 billion fraud at French bank Societe Generale (SOGN.PA: Quote, Profile, Research) is not on the run and will be questioned at an appropriate moment, the Paris prosecutors' office said on Saturday.

Jerome Kerviel, 31, has not been seen by publicly since SocGen stunned the financial world on Thursday when it unveiled the record trading loss.

"Jerome Kerviel is not on the run. He will be questioned at the appropriate time, as soon as the police have analysed documents provided by Societe Generale," said an official speaking on behalf of the Paris chief prosecutor.

Police have established that Kerviel is in Paris and available for questioning, prosecutors said. (Reporting by Thierry Leveque; writing by Crispian Balmer)
