SHANGHAI (Reuters) - Honda Motor (7267.T: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Monday it sold 13.05 percent more vehicles in mainland China in April than a year earlier, slightly outperforming 10.83 percent growth in the overall Chinese market.

Honda, Japan's second-biggest car maker, whose models include the Accord, Civic and Odyssey, sold 38,374 cars in China in April, compared with 33,944 a year earlier, it said in a statement.

Sales at its venture with Dongfeng Motor (0489.HK: Quote, Profile, Research), based in the central Chinese province of Hubei, jumped 54.3 percent to 14,527 units in April, it said.

Guangzhou Honda, its joint venture with Guangzhou Automobile Group Co -- which is the parent of Hong Kong-listed Denway Motors (0203.HK: Quote, Profile, Research) -- sold 23,847 vehicles in April, down 2.8 percent from the year-ago level of 24,529.

From January to April, Honda sold 151,029 vehicles in the country, up 24.8 percent from the same period last year.
