SINGAPORE, July 9 (Reuters) - Inflation in Asia is unlikely to rise much further as oil and commodities prices are nearing their peaks, a senior Government of Singapore Investment Corp (GIC) official said on Wednesday.

"From where the high level is now, I don't see it going up much higher," Teh Kok Peng, president of GIC Special Investments, GIC's hedge fund and private equity arm, said at a forum organised by Japanese brokers Nomura.

Further energy price increases will bring economies to a halt, he added. (Reporting by Kevin Lim and Daryl Loo, editing by Neil Chatterjee)
