SINGAPORE, July 8 (Reuters) - Indonesia's central bank is selling dollars in the currency market to try to prop up the rupiah, traders said on Tuesday.

"Bank of Indonesia is still on the offer side," said a trader in Jakarta. "It seems that they are trying to push the dollar below 9,200."

A second trader said the central bank's intervention was aimed at keeping the rupiah in tight ranges.

The intervention pushed the rupiah IDR= as high as 9,190 per dollar before it edged back to around 9,200, dealers said.

The currency has gained about 1 percent against the dollar in the past month, benefiting from central bank rate rises this year. (Reporting by Kevin Yao and Melissa Chia)
