Paulson: U.S. not pushing others to adopt stimulus
TOKYO, Feb 9 (Reuters) - U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson said on Saturday the United States was not trying to push other countries to adopt fiscal stimulus measures like those the Bush administration is adopting.
"Every country has a different economic situation and every country needs to focus on their own economic situation," he said at a press conference following a meeting of Group of Seven finance ministers.
Reports ahead of the G7 meeting implied the United States was pressing other industrial countries to follow the example it was setting by implementing a $152 billion package of tax rebates and business investment incentives. (Reporting by Glenn Somerville and Tamawa Kadoya)
