Sharp expects to beat LCD TV sales target in '08/09

TOKYO, July 31 (Reuters) - Sharp Corp (6753.T: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Thursday it expected to beat its previous liquid crystal display television sales forecast of 10 million units for the year to next March.

"We expect to top that target by at least 10 percent," Sharp director Tetsuo Onishi told a press conference.

Sharp is the world's third-largest LCD TV maker behind Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (005930.KS: Quote, Profile, Research) and Sony Corp (6758.T: Quote, Profile, Research). (Reporting by Kiyoshi Takenaka)
