Greece's Piraeus Bank confirms interest in ATEbank

ATHENS, July 16 (Reuters) - Greece's Piraeus Bank on Monday confirmed it was interested in buying state-controlled ATEbank, after newspapers reported the struggling Greek lender could be split into two and its healthy assets sold off.

"Piraeus Bank confirms its interest in ATEbank," Piraeus said, adding it would not disclose further details due to a confidentiality agreement.
