Air France-KLM Backs Conditional Alitalia Bid -Report

PARIS (Reuters) - The board of Air France-KLM (AIRF.PA: Quote, Profile, Research) agreed on Monday to make a formal offer for Italian carrier Alitalia (AZPIa.MI: Quote, Profile, Research) based on certain conditions, French newspaper La Tribune reported on its Web Site.

The Franco-Dutch airline wants Italian unions to guarantee in writing that they will not obstruct the redundacies envisaged as part of the takeover, the newspaper said without giving sources.

Air France-KLM was not available for comment.
