MUMBAI (Reuters) - Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar has been hospitalised after being diagnosed with malaria, doctors said on Monday.

The 86-year-old actor was admitted to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital on Sunday and is showing signs of improvement, a statement from the hospital said.

"He will be in Lilavati Hospital for another two to three days," the statement said.

Kumar, one of India's best known actors in the 1940s and 50s, starred in classics like "Devdas" and "Naya Daur".

He is married to actress Saira Bano.
