Brazil inflation lower than forecast in March

SAO PAULO, April 5 (Reuters) - Brazil's benchmark IPCA consumer price index r ose 0 .21 percent in March, slowing from its 0.45 percent rise in February, government statistics agency IBGE said on Thursday.

The index was expected to rise 0.36 percent, according to the median forecast of 27 economists surveyed by Reuters, Estimates for the March IPCA rise ranged from 0.30 percent to 0.40 percent.
