BRASILIA, July 1 (Reuters) - Brazil's benchmark stock index extended losses on Tuesday, with banks among the bigger losers, as worries over the high price of oil and more fallout from the credit crisis knocked global stock markets lower.

Sao Paulo's main stock index, the Bovespa .BVSP fell 3.1 percent to 63,001.58 points.

Banco do Brasil (BBAS3.SA: Quote, Profile, Research) slid 6.1 percent to 24.56 reais. Mining company Vale (VALE5.SA: Quote, Profile, Research), the second-heaviest stock in the Bovespa index also weighed on the overall market, falling 4.5 percent at 45.55 reais.
