Nasdaq falls 2 percent on economy worries
NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. stocks added to declines on Friday, pushing the Nasdaq down 2 percent, as General Electric Co's disappointing profit forecast and data showing weak consumer sentiment added to recession fears.
The Dow Jones industrial average was down 196.06 points, or 1.56 percent, at 12,385.92. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was down 20.92 points, or 1.54 percent, at 1,339.63. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 48.11 points, or 2.05 percent, at 2,303.59.
