U.S. STOCKS - Market opens higher on tame CPI reading

NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. stocks rose at the market open on Wednesday after government data showed that consumer prices grew less than expected in April, taking pressure off the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates.

The Dow Jones industrial average was up 39.49 points, or 0.31 percent, at 12,871.67. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 5.22 points, or 0.37 percent, at 1,408.26. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 8.84 points, or 0.35 percent, at 2,503.96.
