CARACAS (Reuters) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said on Thursday a price of $100 per barrel for oil is "more than enough," the same day U.S. oil prices hit a record price above $145 per barrel.

"If it were up to us, $100 per barrel would be more than enough, but it's not our fault," Chavez said during a televised address.

The leftist leader has frequently pushed for higher oil prices. Venezuela under his leadership has become one of the most hawkish members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries.
