BSE Sensex provisionally closes up 2.2 pct
MUMBAI (Reuters) - The BSE Sensex provisionally closed 2.2 percent higher on Monday, led by Reliance Industries after a newspaper said the energy giant was close to an overseas acquisition.
Stronger global stock markets after the Group of 20 pledged to keep stimulus in place until recovery was assured also helped sentiment, traders said.
The 30-share BSE index provisionally ended up 2.16 percent, or 349.43 points, at 16,507.71, with 25 components gaining.
The 50-share NSE index provisionally closed up 2.2 percent at 4,902.25.
