ICICI to provide SMX clearing and settlement
SINGAPORE (Reuters) - ICICI Bank Ltd will provide clearing and settlement services to the Singapore Mercantile Exchange (SMX), the exchange said on Wednesday.
ICICI joins Standard Chartered Bank as a clearing and settlement bank for SMX, which has yet to announce specifics on contracts it plans to offer.
Last month, SMX's CEO Thomas McMahon said it planned to trade carbon products and could launch by the second quarter of 2010, and will offer futures and options trading on a range of other commodities including energy, metals, agricultural goods and currencies.
