BSE Sensex 0.1 pct down; Tata Steel falls
MUMBAI (Reuters) - The BSE Sensex was trading 0.1 percent lower early on Thursday, with Tata Steel leading the losses after Asian markets erased gains and slipped into the red.
At 9:55 a.m. (0425 GMT), the 30-share BSE index was down 0.11 percent at 16,831.48, with only 10 components declining.
Tata Steel was down 3.3 percent at 508.95 rupees. The company said it approved a new convertible bonds offer in exchange for an existing $875 million securities to reduce costs and ease repayment obligations.
The 50-share NSE index was up 0.1 percent at 5,007.15.
