TORONTO, July 8 (Reuters) - The Toronto Stock Exchange's main index recovered from earlier losses to push higher late in the day on Tuesday, as gains in the broader market offset weak energy issues that were clipped by falling oil prices.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially closed up 109.78 points, or 0.8 percent, at 13,822.58. (Reporting by Leah Schnurr; editing by Rob Wilson)
