US STOCKS-Dow, S&P 500 turn up, Nasdaq adds gains

NEW YORK, Feb 8 (Reuters) - The Dow and the S&P 500 stock indexes briefly turned positive and the Nasdaq extended gains on Friday as optimism about valuations fueled buying of downtrodden technology shares, although recession fears fueled caution.
The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI was up 0.17 points, or 0.00 percent, at 12,247.17. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index .SPX was up 1.77 points, or 0.13 percent, at 1,338.68. The Nasdaq Composite Index .IXIC was up 19.98 points, or 0.87 percent, at 2,313.01. (Editing by James Dalgleish)
