SpiceJet cuts number of daily flights - CFO
NEW DELHI, July 4 (Reuters) - Low-cost carrier SpiceJet Ltd (SPJT.BO: Quote, Profile, Research) has cut its daily flights to 94 from 117, on routes that had "average realisations," its finance chief said on Friday.
"It is mainly due to route rationalisation," Chief Financial Officer Partha Sarathi Basu told Reuters over the telephone.
Rising jet-fuel prices are forcing Indian airlines to cut down on routes where passenger traffic is low.
SpiceJet has said it is posting daily losses of over 5 million rupees a day and would look at cutting on routes to trim losses. (Reporting by C.J. Kuncheria; editing by Rosemary Arackaparambil)
