India win toss, elect to bat v Australia in second test

MOHALI, India (Reuters) - India stand-in skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat in the second test against Australia on Friday.

Dhoni took over as captain after Anil Kumble was ruled out because of a shoulder injury suffered in the drawn first test in Bangalore.

Leg spinner Amit Mishra, 25, was picked for his test debut to partner off spinner Harbhajan Singh.

Australia were also forced to make one change, including 23-year-old Peter Siddle for his debut after fellow paceman Stuart Clark was sidelined due to an elbow injury.

Australia: Ricky Ponting (captain), Matthew Hayden, Simon Katich, Michael Hussey, Michael Clarke, Shane Watson, Brad Haddin (wk), Cameron White, Brett Lee, Mitchell Johnson, Peter Siddle.

India: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (wk, captain), Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Vangipurappu Laxman, Saurav Ganguly, Harbhajan Singh, Amit Mishra, Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma.
