Sangakkara hits fifty as Sri Lanka take command
CHITTAGONG, Bangladesh (Reuters) - Kumar Sangakkara struck his 28th test fifty to guide Sri Lanka to 187 for four in the second innings as the visitors took command of the second test against Bangladesh at tea on the third day on Monday.
The visitors, 1-0 up in the two-test series, extended their overall lead to 363 while losing Sangakkara and skipper Mahela Jayawardene after lunch.
Sangakkara scored 54 before dragging a delivery from rival skipper Mohammad Ashraful onto the stumps.
Jayawardene, playing in his 100th test, ended a subdued run with the bat after Sri Lanka resumed on their lunch score of 95 for two.
He was out for 22, caught at short-cover by Imrul Kayes off left-arm spinner Enamul Haque. He made 11 in the first innings.
Sri Lanka lost both the openers in succession in the morning.
Ashraful ended a 55-run opening partnership when he had Prasanna Jayawardene caught at short midwicket by Shakib Al Hasan for 28 runs.
Three balls later, paceman Shahadat Hossain trapped the other opener Malinda Warnapura leg before for 27, at the same total.
Sri Lanka made 384 all out in the first innings before dismissing the hosts for 208.
They won the first test in Dhaka by 107 runs.
