KARACHI (Reuters) - Sri Lanka all-rounder Farveez Maharoof will return home from the test tour of Pakistan because of a groin injury, the team said on Sunday.

Sri Lankan team officials said selectors had been asked to send a replacement for Maharoof, who has played 20 tests and 91 one-day internationals but had not played in the first test against Pakistan that is underway.

"Maharoof is suffering from a groin injury and the doctors have advised him to rest," a team official said, adding that Maharoof had sustained the injury during nets at the national stadium.
