De Villiers inspires South Africa to crushing victory
LONDON (Reuters) - AB de Villiers cracked 79 from 34 balls to inspire South Africa to a crushing 130-run victory over Scotland in their Twenty20 World Cup group D match at the Oval on Sunday.
South Africa reached 211 for five, the highest score of the tournament so far, before bundling the Scots out for 81 from 15.4 overs.
Jacques Kallis, who has forced his way into the Twenty20 side after missing the inaugural tournament in South Africa two years ago, scored 48.
The Scots, who are now out of the tournament after losing to New Zealand in a rain-reduced match on Saturday, were 50 for six at the halfway stage.
Kyle Coetzer, at least, will return home with fond memories of the Oval.
Coetzer took a stunning one-handed catch, leaping high on the boundary rope to dismiss Mark Boucher for two, and top-scored for Scotland with a quickfire 42.
