GTL Infra shares rise 4 pct on merger reports

MUMBAI, April 9 (Reuters) - Telecoms tower firm GTL Infrastructure Ltd's (GTLI.BO: Quote, Profile, Research) shares opened up 4 percent at 47 rupees after an official confirmed merger talks with Essar group's tower unit.

A GTL official, who did not wish to be identified, told Reuters earlier in the day that discussions were on with the Essars and it was also conducting a due diligence. (Reporting by Janaki Krishnan; Editing by Ramya Venugopal)
