Nagpur, May 17 (Reuters) Prices of selected edible oil
firmed up in Vidarbha region on Western Maharashtra due to
stockists buying triggered by a surge in oil prices in global
market. Soyabean oil was in keen demand among vanaspati millers
and retailers. Fresh rise in Madhya Pradesh oil prices and
reported demand from South and North-based traders also boosted
prices. Thin overseas oil arrival because of government ban on
oil import and stock limit imposed in many states also helped
to push up prices, sources said Saturday.

OILS

* Soya and Cottonseed zoomed up in Vidarbha on renewed
demand from local

traders amid short supply from local crushing plants.
Notable rise in

Madhya Pradesh soya oil also boosted sentiment.

* Groundnut loose also quoted firm because of weak arrival
from producing

region like Marathwada, Gujarath and Tamilnadu.

* Groundnut refined, Sunflower refined, Linseed, Rapessed,
Castor and

Coconut KP oil ruled steady in thin trading activity.

* Traders expect further rise in soya oil in Vidarbha.

* Prices reported nearly steady but demand was poor.

SOYABEAN

* Soybean prices in the Nagpur Agriculture Produce and
Marketing Committee

(APMC) today reported higher in Vidarbha on good buying
support from

local crushing plants. Thin arrival from producing region
and upward

trend in Madhya Pradesh soya prices also pushed up
prices. Reported

demand from South-based crushing plants also helped to
push up prices.

* Soya was available at Rs 24,200 and 23,600 in Dhulia and
Nanded

respectively.

* About 1,500 bags reported for auction in major soya mandi
in

Vidarbha, sources said Saturday.
