India spices mixed; pepper down, turmeric, jeera up
MUMBAI, April 21 (Reuters) - Indian pepper futures fell on Monday afternoon due to lower prices in competing Vietnam, affecting export demand, analysts said.
At 2:16 p.m., the benchmark June pepper NPEM8 on National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) was down 1.03 percent to 14,680 rupees per 100 kg.
In Kochi, Kerala, spot price was up by 61 rupees to 14,415 rupees per 100 kg.
JEERA:
Jeera futures rose in afternoon tailing a firm spot market, where good export demand was emerging due to lower prices in India compared to competing Syria, analysts said.
At 2:17 p.m., the benchmark July jeera NJEN8 on NCDEX was up 1.14 percent at 9,375 rupees per 100 kg.
Arrival pressure in the physical market in peak harvesting period will cap gains, analysts said.
In Unjha, Gujarat, spot price was up by 133 rupees to 9,183 rupees per 100 kg.
