India jeera down on profit-taking, improving weather
MUMBAI, Nov 10 (Reuters) - India jeera futures ended down on Tuesday as profit-taking and improving weather conditions in the growing regions weighed on sentiment, analysts said.
Profit-taking was triggered after prices rose 5 percent from the past week until Monday.
Signs of favourable weather in the growing regions of Gujarat and Rajashthan, where sowing has begun, weighed on prices, analysts said.
"In the coming days we expect to see jeera prices correcting due to the weather conditions," said Kunal Shah, assistant vice-president, Nirmal Bang Commodities Ltd.
Losses, however, were capped by firm export and domestic demand.
Jeera exports in September nearly tripled to 6,000 tonnes from the same period a year ago. Global producers Syria and Turkey continue to quote prices at a premium to Indian rates.
Spot jeera fell by 166 rupees to end at 13,003.05 rupees per 100 kg in Unjha, a major trading hub in Gujarat.
Following are the closing prices of jeera futures in rupees per 100 kg on the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange Ltd. <0#NJE:>
