FACTBOX-Security developments in Afghanistan, Nov 23

Nov 23 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Afghanistan reported at 1235 GMT on Sunday.

KANDAHAR - U.S.-led coalition and Afghan forces killed 17 Taliban insurgents in an air strike and operations in the Shah Wali Kot district, some 400 km (215 miles) southwest of Kabul, on Saturday, the U.S. military said.

HELMAND - NATO's International Security Assistance Force, (ISAF) killed Taliban commander Mullah Asad in the Garmsir district, some 590 km (365 miles) southwest of Kabul on Wednesday, ISAF said.

GHAZNI - Afghan policemen killed eight insurgents and wounded six more in an operation in the Aab Band district, some 200 km (125 miles) southwest of Kabul on Saturday, the provincial governor's spokesman said.

ZABUL - U.S.-led coalition forces killed two militants and a female civilian in an operation in Zabul province, some 325 km (200 miles) southwest of Kabul, the U.S. military said.

PAKTIKA - U.S.-led coalition troops detained eight militants linked to Taliban allies, the Haqqani network, in an operation in the Urgun district, some 200 km (125 miles) south of Kabul, on Saturday, the U.S. military said.

GHAZNI - A roadside bomb killed two Afghan policemen and wounded three others in Andar district, some 200 km (125 miles) southwest of Kabul on Saturday, the governor's spokesman said. (Compiled by Hamid Shalizi;)
