FACTBOX-Security developments in Afghanistan, May 30
May 30 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Afghanistan at 1600 GMT on Saturday.
* KANDAHAR - Seven civilians, including three women and two children, were killed when their vehicle hit a roadside bomb in Khakriz district of southern Kandahar province, local police officer Abdullah Jan told Reuters.
* KANDAHAR - Three Afghan policemen were also killed when a roadside bomb was remotely detonated under their vehicle, in Kandahar's Dand district, police officer Zabiullah told Reuters.
* FARAH - Afghan police killed six insurgents and detained 12 others when Taliban fighters attempted to storm a police station in Western Farah city, the Interior Ministry said.
* BADGHIS - Afghan troops killed around 30 insurgents, including 11 sub-commanders, in a battle in the Bala Murghab district of Western Badghis province on Friday, Afghan Army General Jalandar Shah Dehnam told Reuters.
Six Afghan army soldiers also died and five were wounded in the firefight, which followed an ambush by Taliban forces, provincial governor Dilbar Jan Armaan said.
KUNDUZ - A roadside bomb planted by insurgents slightly wounded the governor of northern Kunduz province, Mohammad Omar, when he was travelling to neighbouring Takhar province, his spokesman Mahboobullah Sayedi said.
HELMAND - Afghan and U.S.-led troops killed five militants during an operation in the Musa Qala district of southern Helmand province on Friday, the Interior Ministry said in a statement.
HERAT - Afghan policemen identified and shot dead two suicide bombers who were trying to enter the Guzara district of western Helmand province overnight, the Interior Ministry said. (Compiled by Hamid Shalizi; Editing by Emma Graham-Harrison)
