NEW YORK (Reuters Life!) - If a terrifying rollercoaster or scary movie doesn't get you screaming, try one of the growing numbers of haunted attractions emerging across the United States this Halloween.

Hauntworld Magazine (www.hauntworld.com) has come up with a list of the 13 most scary haunted attractions in the United States, each of which cost up to $1 million to build and use trained actors and the latest technology to terrify people.

Reuters has not endorsed this list:

1. 13th Gate Haunted House, Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Rated as the best haunted house in America two years due to its detail. Journey through 13 indoor and outdoor themes to face your nightmare, be it crawling through a crematory oven and an old hearse to being lost in dark tunnels or standing on a rickety bridge over live snakes. (www.midnightproduction.com)

2. Netherworld Haunted House, Atlanta, Georgia

Netherworld is one of the few haunted houses that dedicate an army of monsters to scare patrons while they wait in line and hundreds more waiting for you to enter the door. In two haunts, Blood Night and Zombie Rampage, you escape tree demons, vampires, and eyeless blood drinking hemophores. (www.fearworld.com)
