SINGAPORE (Reuters Life!) - Next year, it may be worth a visit to El Salvador, Lake Baikal or Cork, with these destinations featuring in a new Lonely Planet travel guide for the top places to go to in 2010.

The "Best in Travel 2010", released on Monday, is the travel company's fifth in its annual collection of the best places to go and best things to do in the year ahead.

"This is a collection of destinations and experiences that we rate as the stuff people really should consider for next year.

Whatever your own style dictates, you should be able to find inspiration in these destinations," Asia-Pacific communications manager Adam Bennett said.

"They'll take you from the familiar to the far away, both geographically and culturally, and more than likely have you reaching for your travel bag."

Following are top 10 lists from the guide:

Top countries:

El Salvador, Germany, Greece, Malaysia, Morocco, Nepal, New Zealand, Portugal, Suriname, and the United States.
