Ex Stone Roses singer held for "wife assault"
LONDON (Reuters Life!) - Former Stone Roses singer Ian Brown has been arrested in London on suspicion of assaulting his Mexican wife, model and actress Fabiola Quiroz.
Police said they were called to a residential address -- which media reports said was thought to be the couple's home -- in West Kensington just after 8:00 a.m on Monday after neighbours reported a disturbance.
"On arrival, a 37-year-old woman made an allegation of domestic assault and a 46-year-old man was arrested at the address and taken to a West London police station," the Metropolitan police said in a statement.
Brown, who fronted the Stone Roses for 12 years before they split in 1996, was bailed until December pending further enquiries.
The couple married in 1999 and have a son, Emilio, who is aged nine, British media reported.
The band from Manchester, one of the pioneering groups of the "Madchester" scene, caused a sensation with the release in 1989 of their acclaimed album "The Stone Roses".
Since the band's break-up, Brown has embarked on a successful solo career.
